Purposes and legal basis for the processing

The processing of your personal data is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and all other applicable laws.

This website collects, processes and uses personal data only to the extent that it is necessary.

When our website is accessed, we process anonymised data such as the IP address and browser of the visitor as well as the date and time of the access. It is not possible to personally identify the visitor with this data. The use of the data is carried out exclusively for technical and statistical purposes and to improve our offerings as well as to make the website available on the basis of Art. 6(1)(ac) GDPR in conjunction with § 25 para. 2 TTDSG (legal obligation)..

If you request information about our company or about our products or services or if you contact us using the live chat function, if necessary via WhatsApp, we require the information that you thereby provide such as your name, email address or telephone number in order to process your request. The processing of your personal data for this is carried out within the framework of a balancing of interests in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The use of WhatsApp is subject to your decision. The privacy policy of WhatsApp (https://www.whatsapp.com/legal/privacy-policy-eea) will then apply. The LiveChat functionality is generally ensured even without using WhatsApp.

If you apply for insurance cover online or by post, we require the information that you thereby provided such as your name, home and contact address and birth date in order to conclude the contract.

If the insurance contract is concluded then we will process your data for the performance of the contractual relationship, which includes the issuing of policies, billing and claims processing, among other things.

The conclusion and performance of the insurance contract are not possible without the processing of your personal data.

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data in this regard is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

On our website you also have the option to subscribe to the newsletter "Living and Working Abroad". If you do, we will save your email address, the subscription date and your IP address. The consent that you grant us through the double opt-in process by confirming your subscription by email is, in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, the legal basis for the processing of your personal data in this regard.

If you access our newsroom, anonymised data such as your IP address, browser, location and the date and time of the access will be shared with the corresponding news providers such as Facebook, Twitter or Google Maps. The consent that you grant us in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR is the legal basis for the processing of your personal data in this regard. The respective provider's privacy policy will apply the moment you jump to that provider's website. If you are applying for an advertised position within our company, you can either send us an email or use the web upload system we provide. The data collection serves to enable a decision to be made regarding the establishment of an employment relationship and is based on Section 26(1) Sentence 1 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) as well as section 26(3) of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). 

Recipients or recipient categories

The individuals within our company who require your data in order to fulfil our contractual and legal obligations will receive access to your data. The processors employed by us in accordance with Article 28 GDPR can also receive data for the purposes specified above. These include things such as IT services, marketing and address research or telecommunications providers. If your request is aimed at the conclusion of an insurance contract, we will also forward your data to the respective insurance companies. Unless you contact us via the live chat function, your data will not be transferred to a third country outside the EU/EEA. As a rule, your data will not be transmitted to a third country outside of the EU/EEA. So-called standard contractual clauses have been agreed with the provider LiveChat. Storage period

BDAE Holding processes and stores your personal data only for the period necessary to achieve the purpose of storage or to fulfil statutory retention periods.

Social media platforms

Social media buttons or addresses from social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, etc. are used on our website. These are links to the respective platforms. As long as you do not leave the BDAE website, no personal data is transmitted to these social media providers.

Only once you actively click a link and jump to one of the social media websites will the privacy policy of the corresponding provider apply.

Our website also uses the Facebook pixel from Facebook Inc. The Facebook pixel is a snippet of JavaScript code that loads a small library of functions that Facebook can use to track your user behaviour if you were referred to our website via Facebook Ads. If you purchase a product on our website, for example, the Facebook pixel will be triggered and will log your behaviour on our website in one or more cookies. These cookies enable Facebook to connect your user data (customer data such as your IP address and user ID) to your Facebook account data. We use the Facebook pixel for the purpose of showing Facebook Ads presented by us only to Facebook users who have also shown an interest in our website offerings and logging this statistically. Service portal

When an insurance contract is concluded, the contract data are automatically transferred to our Service Portal. We thereby make your insurance documents as well as forms for the administration of your data and claims reporting available on a digital platform. When you use the portal, your data will be sent to our cooperation partner MSH INTERNATIONAL in France for the performance of the contractual relationship. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data in this regard is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Rights of the data subject

As a data subject, you are entitled in accordance with Article 15 ff GDPR to the right of access, correction, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability.  Furthermore, you have the right in accordance with Article 21 GDPR to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to processing of your personal data, provided that the data processing was carried out on the basis of a balancing of interests in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR or in the public interest pursuant to Article 6(1)(e) GDPR. If you lodge an objection, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms or unless the processing serves the purpose of the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Finally, please note that you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority in accordance with Article 77 GDPR.
